Visibility flags

Prevailing visibility is flagged with the same blue / red / pink scale used across the tool, on both the METAR and each TAF forecast period.

• Blue — visibility of 5 SM or less. Example: 5SM BR or 4SM -RA.
• Red — visibility less than 3 SM. Example: 2 1/2SM HZ or 1 1/2SM -SN.
• Pink — visibility of 1 SM or less. Example: 1/2SM FG or M1/4SM FG.

Values reported as P6SM ("greater than 6") or metric 9999 are above all thresholds and carry no flag. All forms are parsed — whole miles, fractions (3/4SM), mixed (1 1/2SM), and 4-digit metric.

Cloud and ceiling heights use the same color scale — see Cloud / ceiling flags. In grid and map views, a facility's box or pill takes the color of the most critical flag it shows across both visibility and clouds; see List, Grid & Map.
